Disaster Preparedness expo

The New Hanover Disaster Coalition is excited to host our 2026 Disaster Preparedness Expo, a free community-wide event designed to help residents learn how to better prepare for emergencies and disasters.  This event is open to all New Hanover County residents and aims to provide practical, engaging, and family‑friendly emergency preparedness education. Our goal is simple—to strengthen our community’s resilience so we can be stronger together before, during, and after any disaster.

You can help.

This is an opportunity to begin thinking differently - not waiting until a disaster comes, but choosing to prepare now.   There are two simple ways to engage: 

First, come and be part of it. 

Come learn, connect, and take practical steps toward being better prepared for hurricane season. This is about equipping yourself and your household - and showing up alongside others. 

Invite a neighbor. Come with a friend. Make it something you step into together. 

Second, help provide one item for a family.

These items will be shipped directly to a designated location to help prepare resources for families across our area.

It’s a simple way to look out for one another and take part in something bigger than ourselves. Small steps add up - and when people move with intention, it becomes something more: a stronger, more connected, and more prepared community.
